Job description
Position title: Deputy team leader (based in Battambang, Cambodia)
The expert will be based full time in Battambang, Cambodia for 18 months.
Start date: July 2025 to December 2026
Main goal
Tasks assigned:
- Take over deputy team leader position
- Coordinating the scope of work under this contract in close cooperation with the international expert and the responsible programme staff at GIZ
- Provide technical and other sectoral expertise, particular on integrated SWM planning
- Overall timely management and implementation of the project deliverables
- Regular updates to the GIZ project team
- Staff management, in particular identifying the need for short-term assignments within the available budget, as well as planning and steering assignments and supporting local and international short-term experts
- Contact person for national partners and stakeholders in Battambang.
- Short term expert functions according to his/her profile (see table below).
What we look for in your profile
Qualifications of deputy team leader
- Education/training: University degree in civil engineering, urban planning, environmental engineering, environmental science or other related fields.
- Language: B2-level language proficiency in English, and C2-level in Khmer in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (or equivalent).
- General professional experience: 10 years of professional experience in municipal solid waste management.
- Specific professional experience: 5 years of professional experience in municipal solid waste management (5 out of 10 points) and 3 years professional experience in organic waste management (5 out of 10 points).
- Leadership/management experience: 2 years of management experience in projects, companies, or other organisations with disciplinary leadership responsibility for 5 persons and more.
- Development Cooperation (DC) experience: 2 years of professional experience working on DC projects
- Other: 3 years professional experiences in capacity building.
